Where Tradition Meets Innovation
BookWriters Press was founded on the conviction that publishing is a craft, not merely a transaction. In a world of algorithm-driven recommendations and vanity publishing shortcuts, we chose to walk the harder path—treating every manuscript with the reverence it deserves.
Our founder, Margaret Chen, spent fifteen years in traditional publishing houses before realizing that the soul had left the industry. Authors were becoming data points. Stories were reduced to market projections. So she built a different kind of publisher: one that believed in the book as a sacred object and the author as a true craftsperson.
Today, BookWriters Press remains independent, deliberately small, and fiercely committed to artisanal publishing. We publish 8-12 books per year. We know every author's name. We invest months into each project. And we've never compromised that philosophy.
Publishing is both an art and a discipline. Like a master woodworker or a typographer, we approach each book with intention, patience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. We believe that:
Every story deserves an audience. Not every story deserves to be published by us, but every story that makes it through our doors receives our complete dedication. We're selective not because we're elitist, but because we respect our readers.
The author's voice is sacred. Our editors don't rewrite. They refine. They amplify. They help you become the best version of yourself on the page, not a shadow of editorial preferences.
Design matters as much as prose. A beautiful book deserves beautiful presentation. We invest in cover design, typography, and binding because we understand that readers judge books by their covers—and rightfully so.
Publishing is relationship. You're not a project number here. You're a collaborator. We grow together, celebrate together, and weather challenges together.
